House of Scratch has finally completed its intended goal, a true physical gallery exhibition showcasing some of the best surrealistic and imagination based art around!
MIND FIELD 2009 (click title to see exhibition page) featured the work of Mayuko Fujino, Jason Spencer, Callie Badorrek, Justin Jenkins, William Butler, Miles Davis, Matthew Hamby, Cathrene Gehue and Sean Chappell and, although it has come to a close, there’s no reason to be sad. The show was very well received getting a lot of attention from the local Arts community. The opening went well, and even though we were competing with Canada’s Thanksgiving weekend, we still saw a lot of people come out to see the art and visit with the artists. Thank you to you all (you know who you are!)
One of those artists was Matthew Hamby, who came all the way up from Ohio with his friend Brad to visit Toronto and be present at the opening. It sounds like they had a good time while they were here in Toronto and we hope that Matthew made a few new business connections while he was in town. We know that Justin Jenkins, William Butler and Mayuko Fujino all wanted to be here as well. Maybe next time
Now that the show is completed, the work is down and unsold pieces are heading back to their creators, we’ve decided to put the House of Scratch project on hiatus until the new year. There are more pressing matters in our lives that need to be dealt with at the moment but hopefully, once those are all tidied away, we’ll be able to begin anew with House of Scratch 2: The Revenge!
We want to send out a big thanks to everyone who helped to make this project possible. That includes every artist who applied to be in one of our online exhibitions, every artist who won in their respective show, all the friends, families and visitors to House of Scratch who cast their ballot in our artistic surveys and all of the well-wishers and finger-crossers who helped us along the way.
We’d like to send out a thank you to Barb and Russell from the Hang Man Gallery who helped us work out the kinks and snags in acheiving the physical show as well as a super-special, MEGA thanks to King who, despite his being a volunteer at the Hang Man Gallery, was there for us every step of the way giving selflessly of his time and energy to make MIND FIELD 2009 a success!
Last but not least we’d like to thank our families for helping us when we needed help and offering us invaluable business advice that aided in the success of this project. Thank you all!
Both of us at House of Scratch hope to see you all in the new year. We’ll update you when we’re ready. For now, that is all. Goodnight!
Sean and Cath
