Welcome to the August 2009 Exhibition at House of Scratch! This is the final online show before the big event at the Hang Man Gallery happening here in Toronto from October 6th to October 25th! We’re down to the wire here folks!

All we have to say is “Wow!” This month’s applications were strong, varied and a pleasure to jury. It is probably our slickest and most professional exhibition to date, with works ranging from the carnivalesque, whimsical and bizarre to the sombre-fantastical. This month also marks our first artist to make a second appearance in one of our shows; Ione Citrin, whose intriguing mixed media first appeared in the January 2009 Exhibition, returns for his second showing with us this year. We can’t have imagined a better group of artists from which to select the next “Best of the Best” artist who will appear with others in our October Exhibition on Queen Street East, Toronto, living and breathing in the real world.

Now it is up to you, the viewer, to pick the artist(s) whose work you believe should be considered the “Best of the Best” in the exhibition. Take some time and view the entire show, then scroll to the end of the post and fill out our “Best of the Best” Survey.  Based on your informed opinion and those of the House of Scratch team, one artist will be designated “Best of the Best”, awarded a $50 cash prize and offered a spot in our first ever physical gallery group exhibition, as well as a special page on House of Scratch showcasing their artworks!
