Welcome to the January 2009 show of Surreal and Fantastic art on House of Scratch. We received quite a few ecclectic submissions this month and we think you’ll agree that it gives the show a real buffet feeling; a little bit of this, a little bit of that. We’re pretty sure that just about every field of artistic endeavour is covered in this show. We hope you like it as much as we do!

Now it is up to you, the viewer, to pick the artist(s) whose work you believe should be considered the “Best of the Best” in the exhibition. Take some time and view the entire show, then scroll to the end of the post and fill out our “Best of the Best” Survey.  Based on your informed opinion and those of the House of Scratch team, one artist will be designated “Best of the Best” and offered a spot in our first ever physical gallery group show, as well as a special page on House of Scratch showcasing their artworks! Now that you’ve seen the show, House of Scratch wants to make you an Honourary Juror to help us pick the artist most deserving of the “Best of the Best” designation.  We’ve designed a survey which allows you to select three artists you believe deserve consideration for this title, as well as the reasoning behind your choices.

We originally had a voting poll set up for this purpose.  Due to spamming and abuse of an e-mail vote option, we’ve come to the conclusion that the poll model is unreliable and inaccurate.  Unscrupulous and dishonest individuals were taking advantage of this setup, stuffing the ballot box in many underhanded ways.  We feared the results were not going to reflect the honest opinions of the online public.

When the inaugural House of Scratch Physical Group Show is launched, we want to bring together those artists whose work has prompted positive feedback from the online community.  Is it too much for us to hope for honesty and truth in this endeavour?  We don’t think so.  Spammers and Trolls, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience.

Although we have removed the Voting Poll for this show, we will take into consideration all valid votes received since Jan 1, 2009 when we make our decision at the end of the month. Votes were closley monitored in the previous show and so the “Best of the Best” designation remains unchanged for the December 2008 Show.
