The earliest image I can remember drawing, was a cauldron with arms for legs feeding itself ingredients, inspired by Griselda of the kids tv-show “The Hilarious House of Frightenstein”. The image was drawn in purple crayon on the inside of a book—an anthology of fairytales.
Back then, the inability to draw realistically was a huge annoyance, until my teenage years and early twenties, where I discovered that when I put my mind to it, that ability was there; it just wasn’t inspiring. This prompted years of dabbling and experimenting. Finally, the urge to pursue art professionally occurred later in life (2004), and to date has been a journey involving a self-taught approach—attending art classes at George Brown College and workshops led by other artists—in the pursuit of excavating inspiring themes and developing techniques to convey them in the weirdest way possible.
Since being in a group show two years ago, my work has digressed toward deeper independent studies with an interest in Day of the Dead festival art, as I continue to develop a satisfactory technique.
